Prestige is the point where Scritchy Scratchy stops being only about one lucky run. Jack Points should be judged by what they change on the next run, not by how impressive the current number feels.
Prestige
Reset for future value
Prestige matters when the next run becomes cleaner than continuing the current grind.
Jack Points
Future-run power
Think of Jack Points as compression: less repeated work before the useful part of the run.
Automation
Return faster
A good reset helps you reach automation, stability, or key upgrades sooner next time.
When should you prestige?
Prestige becomes attractive when the current run has stopped opening meaningful power and permanent progress is likely to return more than another long stretch of local grinding. It is not a button to press immediately every time Jack Points appear.
Will this reset get me back to Scratch Bot, Fan, and stable ticket flow sooner?
Are permanent upgrades now more valuable than one more expensive local upgrade?
Has the current run slowed into maintenance rather than meaningful unlocks?
Can I explain what the next run will do better because of these Jack Points?
How to read Jack Points
QuestionGood signWeak sign
Next run speedYou can reach useful automation earlier. The next run still repeats the same slow opening.
Permanent valueJack Points buy upgrades that change route quality. You reset only because the current run feels boring.
Current run valueLocal upgrades are now expensive or marginal.A near-term unlock would still change the run significantly.
Record one before-and-after reset
The clearest way to judge Jack Point value is to compare two runs instead of relying on how a reset feels. Write down the same milestones before resetting and on the next attempt.
MilestoneRecord before resetEvidence of improvement
Stable ticket loopTime or actions needed before losses stop forcing Day Job recovery. The next run reaches the same safety point with less repeated work.
First useful automationWhen Scratch Bot and its required support become usable. The next run reaches a functioning loop earlier, not merely the gadget unlock screen.
Next meaningful unlockCost and estimated repetitions remaining in the current run.Permanent upgrades shorten that route more than the abandoned local progress was worth.
Do not reset yet when
A nearby upgrade will immediately fix the current bottleneck and can still pay back during this run.
You cannot name which permanent upgrade the Jack Points will buy or what milestone it should accelerate.
You are abandoning a strong achievement or Final Chance setup that would take much longer to rebuild.
The urge to reset comes only from a short losing streak rather than a genuinely stalled route.
