When should you prestige?

Prestige becomes attractive when the current run has stopped opening meaningful power and permanent progress is likely to return more than another long stretch of local grinding. It is not a button to press immediately every time Jack Points appear.

Are permanent upgrades now more valuable than one more expensive local upgrade?

The urge to reset comes only from a short losing streak rather than a genuinely stalled route.
