Focused upgrade guide

Scritchy Scratchy early game upgrades

The first upgrades should make the next few tickets more repeatable. Use this phase guide to protect your reserve and avoid buying late-game power before the opening loop is stable.

The goal of early upgrades

An early upgrade earns its place by improving a problem that appears immediately: insufficient starting income, an unreliable affordable ticket, or manual scratching that takes too much attention. The aim is a recoverable route, not the largest possible Jackpot.

Keep money available for another ticket and for the Day Job when a result goes badly. An upgrade that leaves the balance one loss away from a stall has a hidden cost even if the displayed stat looks impressive.

Buy income before convenience when needed

If the opening route cannot fund repeatable tickets, prioritize the upgrade that improves the income side or makes the active ticket more reliable. Convenience is helpful only after the loop has something worth repeating.

The right order depends on the current build and the upgrade screen in front of you. Compare the next several purchases, not an old universal tier list. Exact prices and values can change between versions.

Use the first ticket as a test

Before spending heavily, run one or two copies of the ticket you expect to repeat. Watch the visible rules, payout pattern, scratch effort, and any downside. Then buy the improvement that addresses the part you can actually observe.

If a ticket is still unclear, stay manual. Early automation can make a weak decision look efficient while removing the pause that would have revealed the problem.

Move from early upgrades to the next phase

When a ticket route survives ordinary results and the manual work becomes the slowest step, move into the automation upgrade guide. When the run is strong but future resets are the real limit, compare the Prestige upgrade guide.

The complete best upgrades guide keeps those phases together and explains why one universal order cannot fit every run.
